Fall Portraits

Fall can be a fun time to do a senior session or family portrait. The colors can add a different type of intensity to the image. However it’s still important to consider all of the elements of an image, not just “get some color in the background.” After all portraits are about people, not backgrounds.

Call now to schedule your fall portraits.

Photographer Saves Tullahoma High School From Fireballs

TULLAHOMA, Tennessee – April 1, 2014 – Tullahoma High School was saved from April Fools fireballs by portrait artist Norris Carden of Tullahoma, Tennessee today. Carden received a phone call at 11:40AM from THS principal Kathryn Rose who said that the school was having to put out “quite a few fireballs” because of an April Fools Facebook post. Mrs. Rose called to request that the post be removed. Mr. Carden’s quick actions in removing the post apparently saved countless THS students, faculty and staff members from any further fireballs. Around 9:30am on April 1, 2014, Carden had posted the following on Facebook:

I just heard that the THS yearbook this year has an unusually large number of seniors who didn’t get their senior formals done. Rather than having all of these students in the yearbook as “not pictured,” they decided to allow students to submit camera phone selfies.

Yearbook selfie guidelines:

Girls must wear a black v-neck tank top
Guys must wear a tuxedo tshirt
Solid background, such as the brick wall in the THS lobby
Selfie should be waist up, not full length

Mr. Carden made yearbook advisor Liberty Dickman aware of the April Fools post by email. Ms. Dickman replied, “That was a good one!” Before the post was removed, several people had liked, shared and commented on the April Fools Post. Stacy Shuss, parent of THS senior Sarah Carney, commented, “That’s funny. I just wish they would let us use your picture.” When informed that Carden’s quick actions had saved THS from further fireballs, internationally acclaimed artist Michell Poulouin commented, “Yea… a True Savior!!!!! A town hero.” Norris Carden is an internationally recognized and published photographic artist specializing in portraits, weddings and commercial photography with a studio in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Many area high school seniors and their parents wish that the senior portraits created by Carden Photography could be published in the high school yearbook.

As my daughter is learning dance, I become amazed at how much athleticism is required. Being around dancers has exposed me to dancing on point … which is apparently a quite painful experience.Point Shoes

Several high school seniors and their parents have contacted me recently because they were not satisfied with the formal portrait done by the school’s contract photographer. We recently created a formal portrait for Tullahoma senior Jordan Sheffield. Here are the three that I like the best.

Formal Senior Portraits

Even though most schools have a contract photographer who takes formal yearbook pictures, I am often asked to create formal portraits as well. Some schools even allow my images to be included in their yearbook.

For a limited time, I’m waiving the creation fee for all formal senior portrait sessions. Don’t even bring your checkbook. If you don’t like my formal portraits better than the school photographer’s, there’s no commitment to buy anything.

Contact me ASAP to schedule your 30 minute formal senior portrait session!

Pic of the Week 20110212

It’s time to start looking toward spring and more high school senior portrait clients. To the Class of 2011, it’s not too late to get great images to help you and your families remember your senior year. To the Class of 2012, it’s time to start thinking about your senior portraits. I’m looking for 3-4 current juniors from each school in the area to be senior models. More information on this opportunity will be coming soon.

Meanwhile, here’s one of my favorite images from the past week.
